The lecture of Shri. Suresh Gokhale, Secretary of Vishnubuva Brahmachari Samajik Kendra on 'Hindu Dharma Defender and Pracharak Vishnu Buva Brahmachari' was held on 18 November 2022 at Udyan Prasad Mangal Karyalaya, Pune.
Mrs. Smita Desai and Shri. Hemant Desai had invited their friends from the Bank of Baroda and other dignitaries to the event.
Explaining the significance of the commendable work done by Vishnubuwa Brahmachari in the 19th century, Mr. Suresh Gokhale reviewed the literature of Vishnu Buwa Brahmachari and his social, economic, religious, and political views. Vishnubuva was very much aware of the devious policies of the Christian missionaries who were converting the Hindus and the Parsi community in the 19th century with the support of the British Raj and he challenged them and stopped the conversions.
Along with this, Vishnubuva advocated the elimination of caste discrimination, education of women and Bahujans, and social awareness. He was of the opinion that we Hindus have drifted away from the original Vedokta Dharma and got caught in the trap of casteism and ritualism and lost our independence. Vishnubuva traveled to many places in Maharashtra including Nashik, Pandharpur, Solapur, Satara, Kolhapur, Pune, Mumbai as well as Kolkata, Chennai, Varanasi, and Gujrat for the propagation of Vedokta Dharma. Despite the criticism of his own people and foreigners, he continued to do his work firmly. His 8 books are still available today. Even after 150 years Vishnubuva's thoughts and work are relevant and exemplary.
The program was moderated by Mrs. Smita Desai. About 100 people attended the event.
Activists of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Swaroop Vardhini, and other social organizations were present.
